Maine Coon Kitten Adoption Agreement & Terms

This Adoption Agreement establishes a clear understanding between Dr Thomas Kittens Home, operating online at DrThomaskittenshome.com, and the adopting family. Our primary goal is to protect the health, safety, and lifelong welfare of every purebred Maine Coon kitten placed through our program while providing complete peace of mind to our buyers across the United States.

1. Responsibilities of the Adopting Buyer

Providing a safe, affectionate, and stable indoor environment is essential for the wellbeing of a Maine Coon cat. By signing and submitting this agreement, the buyer agrees to uphold the following standards of care throughout the cat’s lifetime:

  • Payment and Delivery Fees: The buyer agrees to complete the agreed adoption price for the selected kitten along with any applicable delivery or flight nanny transport charges prior to the kitten’s departure from our cattery.
  • Strictly Indoor Living: The buyer commits to keeping the Maine Coon kitten indoors as a cherished household member. Unsupervised outdoor roaming exposes cats to traffic, predators, parasites, and infectious diseases, and therefore voids the health guarantee.
  • Humane Care and Nutrition: The buyer agrees to provide clean fresh water, high protein feline nutrition appropriate for a large breed cat, clean litter boxes, tall scratching surfaces, regular coat grooming, and daily affectionate interaction.
  • No Declawing Covenant: Declawing is an amputation of the toe bones that causes lasting physical pain and behavioral distress. The buyer explicitly agrees never to declaw the kitten under any circumstances.
  • Routine Veterinary Oversight: The buyer agrees to maintain scheduled booster immunizations, annual wellness examinations, and internal and external parasite prevention with a licensed veterinarian.

2. Breeder Guarantees and Health Assurances

Dr Thomas Kittens Home stands behind the genetic integrity and early veterinary care of every litter we raise. Our obligations to the adopting family include:

  • Sound Health at Transfer: We guarantee that your Maine Coon kitten leaves our care in sound physical health, free from viral infections including feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus, and clear of visible congenital defects.
  • One Year Congenital and Hereditary Guarantee: Each kitten is covered by a written one year guarantee against life threatening hereditary or congenital conditions, including hereditary hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, spinal muscular atrophy, and pyruvate kinase deficiency.
  • Complete Documentation and Starter Package: Every kitten is accompanied by an official veterinary health record detailing all administered vaccinations and deworming treatments, registration paperwork, a familiar starter kit, and toys.
  • Stable Socialized Temperament: Because our kittens are raised underfoot in our home with daily human contact, we guarantee a friendly, well adjusted temperament at the time of placement.

3. Initial Veterinary Examination and Claim Procedure

To activate and maintain the written health guarantee, the buyer agrees to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within seventy two hours of pickup or delivery arrival, excluding weekends and federal holidays. This initial checkup establishes a baseline with your local clinic and confirms that the kitten handled transit smoothly.

In the rare event that a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a disqualifying pre existing illness during the initial seventy two hour examination, or confirms a covered hereditary condition within the one year guarantee window, the buyer must notify Dr Thomas Kittens Home at info@drthomaskittenshome.com within forty eight hours of diagnosis and provide written veterinary test results. Upon verification, we will provide a replacement kitten of comparable quality or a mutually agreed resolution in accordance with our Health Guarantee and Refund Policy.

4. Lifelong Rehoming and Return Protection

No cat raised by Dr Thomas Kittens Home may ever be surrendered to a municipal animal shelter, humane society, pet store, or rescue facility. Should life circumstances ever prevent the buyer from keeping the cat at any stage of its life, the buyer agrees to contact Dr Thomas Kittens Home first so we can receive the cat back into our care or assist in placing the cat with an approved family.
