Bringing Your Maine Coon Kitten Home Safely
Welcoming a Maine Coon kitten from Dr Thomas Kittens Home is a joyful milestone for your household. Whether you live within driving distance of our cattery or across the country, we plan every detail of your kitten’s journey to prioritize physical comfort, temperature safety, and emotional calm. Because our kittens are socialized daily and introduced to travel carriers inside our nursery, they handle the transition to their new family with remarkable poise.
This page explains how in person appointments work, how our accompanied flight nanny and ground delivery services operate across the United States, and how you can prepare your home before arrival day.
In Person Cattery Pickup by Appointment
Scheduling Your Pickup Visit
Families who wish to pick up their kitten in person are welcome to schedule an appointment once their kitten has completed its veterinary wellness check and age appropriate vaccinations. We coordinate pickup dates and times in advance via email at info@drthomaskittenshome.com so we can dedicate uninterrupted time to your family.
During your pickup appointment, you will meet your kitten, review the veterinary vaccination and deworming folder, sign or confirm your Adoption Agreement and Health Guarantee, and receive your kitten’s starter kit and familiar toys. We also walk through feeding amounts, litter box preferences, and grooming tips for the first week home.
Tips for a Smooth Automobile Trip
When traveling home by car, always transport your Maine Coon kitten inside a secure, well ventilated hard or soft sided pet carrier buckled into the back seat. Line the carrier with the absorbent pad and scented nursery blanket we provide. Keep the vehicle cabin at a comfortable room temperature, play soft voices or quiet music, and avoid opening the carrier doors while car doors or windows are open.
Nationwide Delivery Options Across the USA
Accompanied In Cabin Flight Nanny Delivery
For families located across the United States who cannot travel by car, our most popular option is accompanied in cabin flight nanny delivery. Your Maine Coon kitten never flies alone in a dark cargo hold. Instead, an experienced professional pet nanny carries your kitten onboard inside the pressurized passenger cabin in a soft airline approved carrier placed right beneath their seat.
Throughout the flight and any airport layovers, the nanny checks on your kitten, offers water and comfort, and keeps you updated via text message with real time flight tracking. Upon landing at your nearest major commercial airport, the flight nanny meets you right inside the main terminal arrival area to place your kitten, veterinary health certificate, and starter kit directly into your arms.
Dedicated Climate Controlled Ground Courier
For regional deliveries within several hundred miles, we can also arrange door to door transport through trusted, USDA registered pet ground couriers. Kittens travel in sanitized, climate controlled vehicles with spacious resting enclosures, fresh water, clean litter pans, and frequent caregiver supervision until they arrive at your front door.
Delivery Timelines, Weather Safety, and Coordination
Most deliveries are scheduled within three to seven days after reservation completion, depending on flight availability and the kitten’s veterinary clearance date. Every kitten flying across state lines receives an official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued by our licensed veterinarian within ten days of travel. All transport fees and schedules are confirmed in writing before booking so there are never hidden charges.
Preparing Your Home for Arrival Day
Setting Up a Quiet Sanctuary Room
Even the boldest Maine Coon kitten benefits from starting out in a single, quiet bedroom or home office for the first forty eight to seventy two hours. Place a large, uncovered litter box with unscented clumping or pine litter in one corner, and set stainless steel or ceramic food and water bowls several feet away on the opposite side of the room. Include a cozy bed, a tall sisal scratching post, and the toys from your starter kit.
Once your kitten is eating eagerly, using the litter box consistently, and greeting you at the door of the sanctuary room with a high, confident tail, you can gradually introduce them to the rest of your home and any resident pets under calm supervision. Our team at Dr Thomas Kittens Home remains available every step of the way to ensure a seamless homecoming.
